I haven't had an entry in quite a while. But the wait is over, and this time there will be more to talk about. Just as an introduction to this new "blogging," I will tell you a little bit about what you can expect. First of all, the longer project I am working on involves figuring out mathematically which baseball team is the best of all-time. I won't explain the equation, because there are a lot of numbers, and most of them were made up by me making this whole thing irrational. However, so far the numbers seem to be coming out pretty well, so I will go ahead and say it is a success, and from this point forward I will lead you to believe it works, also. One of the catches with doing this is that the most efficient way to calculate the scores is to start at the begin and do each year in succession until I reach present day. So, each time I get through a year, I will put an updated top 10 here in the blog. At the end of each decade I will give reasoning for the ten best teams. Under this evaluation it helps to win your division, win the world series, have a high winning percentage, solid batting average and fielding percentage, and a low WHIP. Also, it is beneficial to keep a large amount of your roster intact and winning year after year. I will keep crunching through the stats using baseball-reference.com. I am currently in the midst of the 1880 season.
This blog will also include frequent top tens, predictions when neccessary, and power rankings of whatever I feel like. To give you something with some substance, I will start off with my power ranking of the top 5 NFL teams:
5. Minnesota Vikings
4. Baltimore Ravens
3. Indianapolis Colts
2. New Orleans Saints
1. New York Giants
And Power Rankings for MLB:
5. Philadelphia Phillies
4. St. Louis Cardinals
3. Boston Red Sox
2. Los Angelas Angels
1. New York Yankees
